Yumi Fujii (Chee), L.Ac. (HI),

Yumi became a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (D.O.M.) in the state of New Mexico after graduating from Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), Santa Fe, NM, in 2005. She moved back to the state of Hawaii in summer of 2006 and she has been practicing here in Honolulu as a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc.) since then.

At Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), Santa Fe, NM, she completed an extensive training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, with Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM). As a part of her clinical training, she offered acupuncture treatments at Santa Fe Indian Hospital, Santa Fe, NM, at their pain program under the supervision of Dr. Ed Grant from 2004-2005.

In addition to her training at SWAC, Yumi has taken an instruction of a master of Hari Acupuncture, Mr. T.Koei Kuwahara, Boston, MA. Hari Acupuncture is a non-invasive refined system of Japanese traditional meridian therapy and Mr. Kuwahara has been researching and practicing Hari Acupuncture for more than 15 years. She has been also studying with Dr. Robert Chu, Pasadena, CA., who specializes in the Master Tung and Optimal Acupuncture methods which effectively treats pain, sports injuries and neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Chu was the Acupuncturist to Olympic Athletes in Sacramento, CA at the Olympic Trials.

Prior to her acupuncture training, she had studied Japanese traditional Shiatsu under the instruction of two well-known Japanese Shiatsu masters, Mr. Fumihiko Indei and Dr. Aki Murakami, Honolulu, HI.

Yumi is a NAET ((Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques) practitioner. NAET is a noninvasive, drug free, natural solution to eliminate allergies and allergy-related disorders, discovered by Dr. Devi Nambudripad, in 1983. Yumi has been successfully treating many allergy related conditions such as eczema, asthma, chronic fatigue and digestive disorder. (www.NAET.com)

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy which she studied with Dr, Arvigo, Belize, Central America.

Yumi often uses the technique to treat gynecological, reproductive, postpartum and digestive conditions. She also enjoys working with pregnant clients using this modality. (www.arvigotherapy.com)

Her study continues. She often travels to the mainland and abroad to deepen her knowledge of the art of acupuncture and alternative medicine and grow continuously as a practitioner.

In 2011, She took a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico as a a member of Acupuncturists Without Borders and participated in their community clinics throughout the state of Oaxaca with other fellow practitioners as a volunteer.

Yumi was born in Tokyo, Japan and is fluent in Japanese and English. She also obtained her law degree from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan.

Yumi's interest in different languages, culture and people makes her enjoy traveling all over the world. She likes to be in nature. She appreciates music and art. She enjoys martial art and hula. She also has found her love and passion for conga drums, and she dedicates her spare time for her study of conga drum and percussions. Yumi currently performs with her mentor, Babasango (www.babasango.com). She is also busy cheering her teams once a football season starts. Yes, Yumi loves football, which surprises many people!? Most importantly, she loves good laugh!

She came to Hawaii first time on Pan Pacific Program (exchange program between Punahou School and her high shool in Japan) when she was 17. "The experience in Hawaii really changed my life. People in Hawaii welcomed me with their warmest aloha. I am very honored to be back in Hawaii years later. I sincerely would like to give back something to people in Hawaii and contribute to the community here using my skills."
